Huge Lips Skinny Hips
By Elizabeth Palmer Starnes • Jul 2nd, 2009 • Category: Trends*Giveaway - Who’s your beauty icon and why? Comment to win some Purple Lab goodies! Ends Friday, July 10, 2009.
The search for the perfect lip gloss can leave a girl feeling a bit like Goldilocks, with some glosses being too expensive, some being too sticky, and some just not delivering the desired color. But those who have discovered Huge Lips Skinny Hips will find a gloss that is just right. The lipgloss touts a lip plumper, an appetite suppressant, six perfectly tinted shades, and the sought-after texture that delivers a glossy finish while remaining silky and not at all sticky. As a blond afraid of any gloss that strays far from the pale pink family, I can attest to the flattering wearability of every shade, including Red Sole. And unlike other lip plumpers that deliver that bee-stung look but leave your lips feeling like they have actually been stung by a bee, Huge Lips Skinny Hips has a pleasant cooling effect that leaves lips feeling refreshed and not burned.
Purple Lab is the beautiful brain-child of Karen Robinovitz, the creatrix, who traded in her lab coat for a fab coat and founded this exciting and innovative beauty brand. As The Supermelon reported in a Fresh Talk with Karen, “Purple Lab is a fabulously forward-thinking brand that offers double-duty beauty benefits in every product.” And with many more exciting and revolutionary products on the horizon, Purple Lab will soon be in the handbags of multitasking mavens everywhere.
Like what you see? Huge Lips Skinny Hips can be purchased at Scoop stores, b-glowing.com,and BeautyMark.ca.

Well Karen is my beauty icon, of course!
And really, I draw most of my beauty inspiration from my friends or random people that I see wandering the sidewalks!

Beauty is much different than Fashion………so with that said, I’m going to have to go with Brigitte Bardot strictly for the hair. But her makeup wasn’t bad either.

I know this will sound weird, but I love Neicy Nash from ‘Clean House’. I love her flamboyant sense of style…her makeup is always ultra-glam and she is actually built like a real woman who is proud of her curves. Everything she wears is made to accentuate curves and softness. No, she isn’t a “classic” beauty icon….she is someone I look at that RIGHT NOW inspires me.

Gwen Stefani a fashion icon? Yes! But why? Is it her fresh ideas and non-conforming sense style? Or is it she’s able to pull off any type of style while being a mother, a wife, a rocker and business women? Either way… she is amazing!

For me it has to be Sienna Miller! She has the most exquisite skin and big sparkly eyes! She always looks fabulous.

I have to say, I am really crushing on Alexa Chung - MTV’s newest chat show darling.
(For some pics, see here: http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/tag/alexa-chung/) She manages to bring simplicity with a real independent spirit, what I think every woman should strive for. She spins a modern and rebellious take on classic looks. From 60’s cat eyes to the 80’s doc martins, I continually admire how she can always bring femininity with her tom boy humor.

I think i am going to have to be the lame one and say my mother.
Since this is, as someone mentioned above, beauty icon and not fashion icon, the most beautiful person to me (and almost anyone) growing up is their mother. Eventually you realize that there are far more beautiful people in the world, but you never question in your mind that your mom’s pretty in her own way.
She’s unintentionally taught me some of the most important things about beauty, and is always quick to remind me when I’m looking good.. or when I’ve put on a tad too much makeup.
Just by braiding my hair as a child she made me realize that simple changes to your image can make you feel beautiful, and I’ve taken that to heart ever since.

My beauty icon is Karla from Karla’s closet. (She actually directed me to this site!) She always looks amazing and is always confident in whatever she’s wearing, like fringe pants or fluorescent pink blazer. She isn’t afraid to take risks with things like her hair, and she just has an amazing attitude about beauty and fashion.

Audrey Hepburn & Jackie O. They’re timeless beauties who always came across as women comfortable in their own skin. They never overdid anything, and always looked perfect.

Sophia Loren and Rita Hayworth are two of my favs, they were gorgeous, knew how to wear makeup and dress to impress all while making men drool and women want to BE them.
